This might look good sitting on a table, but that's all. No dust jacket and very little printing on the inside- a few logos and a quotation every 15 pages or so. If you want a prop replica, this is a poor buy. If you want a journal with a BTTF-themed cover, this may be a good choice for you.

This is a prop at best. I thought it would have some kind of content inside based on Amazon's "Look Inside" feature, but what you see there is pretty much it. It's about 140 pages each w/ a stamp on it. Other than that, it's completely blank. How about you put some facts from the movie in there? Something!!!

was excited to receive this but it looked like a printer was running low on certain colors and I got this. A mustard stained napkin type print. Not cool. Expected more.

You can't see in the picture that well but the quality isn't there. Sorry, really wanted to like it.

Dr Anna Suvorova, Professor of Indo-Islamic Culture, is currently Head of Department of Asian Literatures at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). A specialist in Islam in the Indian subcontinent, classical Urdu literature, Indian and Pakistani theatre and representative arts, she frequently lectures on these subjects in the universities around the globe. Professor Suvorova is a fellow of Royal Asiatic Society (RAS), British Association for South Asian Studies (BASAS), and some other international scholarly organizations.Professor Anna Suvorova has also been conferred Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan for her contribution to research of Pakistani Literature and Cultural Heritage.

His time in an Indian village and his changing perspectives on the Natives add interest to the story and depth to his character. The dense particulars of daily life may tire readers who demand high-action plots. Others, though, will be easily caught up in the meticulously drawn scenes, from the fetid ship's hold to the snowy forests where Samuel learns to hunt with Powhatan friends. The cover, showing two crouched Powhatan Indians surveying the settlement, is a puzzling choice, particularly since the British characters are the focus. Still, like Joseph Bruchac's Pocahontas (2003), the text offers a view of Indian life that is far from the Disney stereotypes. An author's note offers more historical contest. I loved this book!

Samuel is on the streets, looking in the garbage for food. Then he goes on a ship with Richard, John Smith, Reverend Hunt, James, and a lot of gentlemen. The Susan Constant is a terrible place to be, but he knows he will make it to Virginia. The trip from England to Virginia is long, and many on the ship are sick. Will Samuel make it to Virginia? You'll have to read the book to find out. I recommend Blood on the River to ages 8+. I am 9, and I found it scary, fun, and exiting all at the same time. Happy Readings!

Great portrayal of Jamestown

A MIDDLE SCHOOL READER WROTE THIS REVIEW.

Blood on the River is the story of Samuel Collier.
Originally Samuel was a street rat fighting for his life, but one night he is caught stealing a locket from a pawn shop that originally belonged to his mother (who is dead). The shop owner sent him to an orphanage who's owner is a man by the name of Reverend Hunt, where he meets many other boys and gets in fights with them. When Reverend Hunt decides to go to Jamestown he decides to take Samuel and another boy named Richard, who don't get along to well. Samuel is apprenticed to Captain John Smith. This is the story of how he survives in this new land and how John Smith and Reverend Hunt turn him into a man.
I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed reading it A LOT.

Interesting blend of history and fiction.

My granddaughter had to read this book over the summer as preparation for entering 5th grade in September. I bought 2 copies of the book so we could read it out loud together. I normally don't like history and fiction mixed together but this book is different. Every chapter begins with a direct quote from the actual daily journals of the characters in the story. These very specific historical events are then woven in that chapter into quite an adventure that brings history to life. It is particularly fun as the events are retold through the eyes of a pretty tough street kid who works aboard the ship and comes to learn about life, courage, and friendship as he grows into young manhood. My granddaughter loves it--especially the parts about the fistfights and the slop buckets! I love the accurate geographical precision of the story as well as the depiction of the Native Americans whom the settlers encounter in the New World.

SEVEN stars for The Order of Seven

I received this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Rich in description, this book takes your imagination on a sensual journey allowing you to see, taste, hear, and FEEL the plot. It's hard to believe this is Beth Teliho's FIRST novel. When I came to the line in the introduction: "But there's another reason we want to explore our roots: our paranormal abilities," I was hooked. I sat leaning over my kindle devouring each enticing word from this talented new writer. Normally a book with such detail would become mundane and boring, but the writing drew me in and didn't let me stop until the very last word, and when I read that word, I sighed because I didn't want it to end.

She gave me history, archaeology, fantasy, romance, suspense, and wonder all wrapped in a beautifully told story that spans across Texas, Oklahoma, Peru, and Africa (with sprinkles of other cultures as well). The intense research that must have gone into this novel along with the real and believable characters kept me hungry for more, and the ending...well, no spoilers.

Devi is a strong lead female character who's still strikingly delicate. Sometimes she is angry and hostile but other times, she shows such endearing empathy. I liked her because she is real and natural, and I found myself cheering in her corner more than once. Plus, she has a little feisty in her. Who doesn't love a girl who says what she thinks sometimes?

Then there's Baron, just another book boyfriend to add to my list. Tall, dark, handsome...and not at all in the cliche way. He's kind and warm but bold and sexy, with tattoos and a beard. Hold on while I wipe up my drool. Oh, and he's basically a superhero...no big deal.

The remaining characters are alive and believable and come to life on the page. As I escaped into this luscious story, I felt like I was one of them.

If it were possible, I would rate this SEVEN GIANT STARS, a great read that spans across multiple genres. One click this. You won't be disappointed.

Order of Seven

This was by far one of my favorite books of 2015. I haven't read anything this unique in a LONGGGGGG time. This book is a gem, as a reader it makes me happy that I can tell how much this author put into writing this. A lot of YA fantasy books recycle plots then add sprinkles and change character names. This book is like the lovechild of the amazing race, my highschool anthropology class and one of my grandparents favorite African movies. Beth Teliho didn't cut any corners. The history, culture and amount of detail she put into the backstory for the characters and their powers was beyond refreshing. This is a great debut and I can't wait to read more of her work in the future.

My favorite aspects of this book:

1. The romance in this book was perfect. I'm not going to spoil anything but nothing about Devi and Baron felt rushed, unrealistic or cheesy. The way their powers tied into one another's made the relationship even better.

2. Nodin and Devi's relationship as siblings was adorable. The way they look out for one another and even irk each others nerve's throughout the book was spot on. I could see moments I've had with my big sister in a lot of their interactions so it made everything extremely relatable.

3. The powers in this book are so cool and different. The way dreams and prophecies tie in, the way their powers can enhance someone else's powers, the reason the order of seven exists...... I could go on forever. There are so many unique aspects in this book. The imagery used to describe the powers was so realistic that I had to take a second out of my day to see if I could manipulate energy (I can't)

4. Diversity. My family is African so that was the first thing about this book that drew me in. I was like someone is finally getting into African culture and all of the crazy magic/voodoo/spirits/powers that make African culture and beliefs so different. It doesn't stop there, the Order is made up of members from ALL over the world. There will be a character you relate to in some way or form. Beth also throws in some links to archaeological mysteries that will leave any history fiends doing happy dances. She never misses an opportunity to go above and beyond with a detail and it's great to read along and feel like you're also having a quick learning experience.

5. With some books the dialogue feels like the author thought of every corny thing teenagers wouldn't say and threw it into the convos but Order of Seven is perfect. Theres enough humor and suspense to keep every reader engaged from start to finish. The ending will leave you staring at the page for a day or two waiting for more words to magically appear.

Not only is she a great writer but she is sooooooo nice and laid back. I'm pretty sure I was fangirling in her Twitter mentions like this book was a new Justin Bieber CD when I finished reading and she laughed along with me instead of thinking I was crazy. Anything you can think of this book has probably weaved in flawlessly. Ghosts? You've got it! Animal lover? You've got it! Tree lover? It's in there too! Edge of your seat suspense? Plot twists? Unpredictable plot?
Culture and crazy creativity? It's ALL there, so do yourself a favor and read this book! You won't regret it.

This was the first book I’ve read by Beth and I fell in love with it from the start. The premise was so unique and it was a treat to experience. I was invested in the story less than 2o pages in. Every moment I spent away from this book was torture since all I wanted to do was get lost in it again. There are a mixture of cultures and we got to unravel secrets of our main characters as we go.
Our main character, Devi, is a psychic and her brother, Nodin, is an empath. Their journey was intriguing. I loved the dynamic of their relationship so much, they sort of reminded me of my brother and I. They are close siblings and I felt the love between them and the others characters. The relationships between all of them were deep and meaningful.
Talking about Nodin, he has to be one of my favorite characters of all time. One of the reasons is that even though him and I look almost completely different on the outside, we battled and are battling similar demons. My heart is breaking just thinking about him and reliving the things he’s gone through. He made me cry so much; I wanted to reach into the story and hug him. I wanted to make his pain go away but I was extremely proud of him in the end of it all.
I felt like the relationship between Devi and her brother’s friend, Baron, escalated too quickly for my liking. Their interactions always made me giddy and I got over the insta-attraction early on since there was a reason for it. But other things, I couldn’t really get past. I will say though, that Baron is H.O.T. Jesus. Christ. That man managed to make me uncomfortable in my severe attraction to him. I don’t think any other male character has ever made me feel that way before so kudos Beth!
I felt like the resolution was anti-climactic for me. I would’ve loved a tad more conflict/chaos at the end but all in all it wasn’t disappointing. I loved the writing style even if I managed to find it a little predictable. There wasn’t any sugarcoating or overselling in Beth’s agenda and I loved that. I honestly can’t wait for the next adventure!
